As many of you can see, I've been a pretty terrible blogger lately! What can I say...Life.

"WYE?" Banners

I remember making tons of these when I was into forums. I'd make banners for forum moderators so that people who came across their profiles could simply click on a banner and "BAM!" it would send them straight to the moderator's forum. So, I thought, why not do the same for blogs!

The two images at the bottom of this post are rather simple banners I created for my own blog (Hopefully you all can see them considering it took me a while to figure this all out again. If all you see are some strange computer codes that make almost no sense, it didn't work and I'm trying to fix it.)

There are a lot of different things you can do with these, but it usually starts with a picture, you add some text, sprinkle some virtual magic fairy dust and Bibbity-Boppity-Boo! you have a banner that will teleport all who click on it to your blog. :)

I'm going to keep making a few here and there just to do a bit of advertising, so if anyone is interested in having one made for any of their websites, just let me know. I'd be happy to throw one together for you!

What do you think?

  1. I love the top one. And I had no inkling that you were ever involved in message boards, apart from WEbook.

  2. Oh my! Was I ever a freak about message boards! I even had a pretty highly successful one that gained over 2,000 members. I was 14 at the time and the thing was almost too much for me to handle, but I had the best time doing it.

Unfortunately, when school was busy and I was forced to focus on that instead, I handed all my powers and the forum over to a few online friends and the thing failed in less than 2 months. I almost cried because I could no longer save it. :( Now, I can't even find it. It's lost in Internet oblivion.

PS. I like the first one as well.

  3. Oh, you were actually an admin? What was the forum about? I imagine it was quite devastating to have it slip away. But the fact that you garnered 2000+ members (whether they were all regular posters or not) is a testament to your excellent leadership skills, friendly personality, and overall enthusiasm.

I only have experience being a member to some. I've been posting on Snafu for roughly five years.

  4. Thank you. Yeah it was really hard to see it go.

Lol, it was a forum on anything and everything Joss Whedon (Surprise! Surprise!)

I think I built the forum at a good time because Buffy was in its prime, Angel had just started, and Firefly was in talks. Plus, it's not hard to tap that fanbase because it's freakishly huge!

  5. Modesty, I presume? Incidentally, I haven't seen much of Whedon's works. Blasphemy, right?

  6. Yes, modesty applies in this situation. :)

And, yes, that is blasphemy. You would be jailed in my world or at least be forced to live in the dog kennels.

  7. Don't hate. I was too busy watching cartoons.

I tried to watch Serenity once, but, I suppose because I hadn't seen Firefly, I stopped at the beginning because it made no sense to me. Mark once marathoned the whole series while I was staying with him.

  8. I think that if you just got past the beginning, you'd be fine. I think the beginning is meant to be confusing. Plus, only 2 of the characters in the beginning were even in the show, so a lot was new in that scene.

However, if you had seen Firefly you wouls already have a pretty good grasp of the world and that's pretty important.

I feel that all of Whedon's work takes some time to get into (especially Firefly and Dollhouse!) I almost quite watching Firefly after the snd episode because I hated "Mal" the main character. He was just so mean and cold, but then you realize that he is like that towards everyone he doesn't know. It's like you have to become his friend and a part of the crew before he'll open up to. It's freakishly interactive.

Dollhouse took me almost an entire season to fall in love with. I knew I would stick with it after about episode 6, but it's the last episode (episode 13) that hooks you!

I clicked with Buffy right away (and consequently Angel because you alreayd knew everything about him. There was no need to get into it because it was just a continuation of Buffy.) Oh! and if you watch both shows simultaneously you'll notice similarities. (The same news on television, or there is this episode where Buffy goes to call Angel, but hangs up before he answers, and in the Angel episode, the phone will ring, but when he picks it up, no one is there.)

Good lord, I'm such a geek. lol.

  9. And sorry for typos. I typed that rant very fast.

  10. Haha, spoken like a true fan. I love when little Easter eggs like the phone thing are thrown in.

  11. Yeah, it also goes to show how good the writers and directors are.

  12. So, hey! Do you want a banner for your blog?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't know. It depends on what you want it to look like, what you think reflects your blog.

I could use a piece of your art. That would look cool and would directly relate to your blog. I'll try a moch-up if you want.

  14. What words do you want? Just the name of your blog? Do you want your name on it as well?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hmm...Would you be able to color the images? On second thought, if you could somehow implement the sunray photo, that'd be cool.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'll make up a few (one with your art, one with the sunray, and a random one I find that I think might work) and then I'll post them so you can see.

What text to you want on it?

  17. Perhaps similar to yours, but in place of your name, input "Matt Dimitroff." I'd suggest a different font, but I don't know what's accessible to you and I can only name Times and Arial.

  18. I had a thought this morning. Instead of "A blog by Matt Dimitroff," could it read the url (http://blessidmerc.blogspot.com)?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sure thing, and yes, I'll find a different font. One that fits the tone a bit better.

  20. Ok, I've made the 3 banners. Now, I just have to do the coding. That will take me a while (and I have a Biology exam tonight), but I should have them up by midnight tonight. :)
