SO EXCITED!!!

So, I know I still have to tell everyone about my trip to Chicago (it was amaing by the way!) but right now I am just too excited for HUNGER GAMES!!!! No, I am not going to the Midnight premiere (Twilight ruined that for me, thank you very much! Too much screaming and chatting through the whole thing!) But, I did get a pretty amazing group of friends to pitch in on tickets and now 8 of us are going to the 6:30 show on Saturday!

Are you planning on going?
When are you going to see it?

  2. Actually, my mom asked me today if I wanted to go see it in a couple weeks, after the excitement has died down a little. I told her maybe. Even though I'd never heard of the series until a movie was announced and began to be cast - like with "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" - I'm a little excited about this like I was with HP. It looks great and slightly my kind of thing.

    1. I like going to movies after the excitement dies down a bit too, but for Hunger Games I just couldn't wait. :) It was worth it!

  3. I heard its 'no good' - 'disappointing' - and 'misses loads of things out' from the book. I purposefully decided a few months ago to watch the movie BEFORE reading the books (which has been a strain because I really want to read them). It sounds like I may have done it the right way. - I just couldn't take the disappointment one usually gets reading first. I hope the reviews I've read were wrong and its fabulous for all its fans! Hope you love it Aubrie - at the very least, it'll be a great night out with all your buddies :)

    1. You'll have to let me know what you thought of it. I'm always interested in what people who haven't read the book think. I completely diagree with whoever told you it was disappointing. I enjoyed it very much and thought it was up to par. Of course there were things I missed, little comments I remembered some of the characters making in the book or a bit more time in some areas, but the movie is already almost 2 1/2 hours long and I can't think of anything I would have wanted them to remove to find more room for other stuff.

Fill me in when you've seen it!!!!

  4. Everybody and their grandmothers went to see this last night, so you made an informed decision. My roommate commented prior to seeing it that he was disappointed by the PG-13 rating, stating that it should be more graphic. Haven't heard his opinion after seeing the film.

    1. I think it could have been rated R for sure, but there were so many young kids (maybe even too young for PG13) and I really think the movie would have lost some of that audience if it was rated R. The movie might have even lost money if they didn't make it available to that 12-16 audience.

I think they did a very good job. The movie is already a bit haunting, with children being forced to kill children. I think if they made it R it could very likely have become gratuitous, which i don't think you ever want to do with such a weighted concept. It got the point accross in a sophisticated way.

  5. I saw it yesterday and I'd love to know what you think :) There were parts I absolutely loved...and things I didn't love so much. Very mixed feelings.

    1. I'm mostly on the side of the fence of really enjoying it. I miss very small things that only a reader would be endeared to, like Katniss yelling at Peeta for being too noises while they are hunting during the games, or Haymitch being much slobbier at the beginning and falling off the stage at the reaping.

But, like I mentioned to Shah above, the movie is already almost 2 1/2 hours long and I can't think of anything I would have wanted them to remove to find more room for other stuff.
