Bookmark Break Challenge (5 Months Update!)

I Read 9 Books This Month!!!
But I don't want to brag or anything. Just very happy!

Another month, another update as per usual. I saw some numbers, not unlike my own, skyrocket this month! That's always very nice to see. Take a look where the standings are at...

Competitor's List:
Woo Hoo! That's a healthy looking list with a full cast ranging from CRAZY readers, to sensible readers! I, personally, am well on my way to completing my goal of 1 book per week. I think I'm actually head by a few. I knocked down 3 of my 4 rereads this month which makes me very happy! AND I completeed my monthly goal of breaking into the twenties as far as how many books I have read thus far! Shah, I told you I'd catch up with you!

I think it is time for a bit of an Impromtu Q & A!!!

Answer these questions for me...

1. What book was the biggest pain this month?
2. What book do you recommend?
3. Tell me a quick story about how you found one of the books you read this month or how it found you. (Not technically a question, but feel free to leave an answer in the comments or write your own blog post on it!)
4. If you didn't read a lot this month or haven't had any of these experiences then just tell me what you read and what you thought of it!

Here are my answers!

1. The biggest pain was Anna Karenina, but I buckled down and finished it off in a couple of days (I admit, there was some skimming in the middle.) Sadly, I didn't get much out of my second read. Just, still don't like the book.

2. Out of all the books I did finish this month I would highly suggest Sisters Red, especially if you like a good modern fantasy. Some characters were a bit flat, but I loved one of the main characters, Scarlett! Her character made it all worth it!

3. I found Outlaws of Sherwood because of a book review that Ruthie over at Live, Love, Laugh, Write! wrote quite a while ago. I am a sucker for a good Robin Hood book so I couldn't turn it down. It took me a very long time to find it, though. It wasn't in any of the mainstream bookstores that I could find. Suddenly, when I had given up looking and thought of just buying it online, there it was, in the basement of one of my favorite bookstores in town, just waiting for me, and reasonably priced! I had to start reading it the second I got it home!

4. N/A. I had lots to talk about this month!

Looking forward to hearing from you guys! and HAPPY READING in the month of JUNE!

  1. 9 books! Woaw!
Things are going extremely slow for me... I've got so many books which I've even started, but just can't seem to finish!!!! Uuurggghhh... But! I've got summer vacations now, and I've got a lot of reading planned! Thanks for the update, by the way :-)

The best book I'm reading at the moment is a danish book called "Arabisk medicin" by Phillippe Provencal, about the development of medicin within the islamic world during the middle ages... It's really interesting :-)

    1. Thanks! I was really trying to catch up a bit.
I know how that feels, to start so many books you really don't know what to do with yourself. lol. I felt that way last month when I was ready 5 to 6 books at the same time. I only read 1 book that month. I just had to buckle down and finish them one at a time. Then again, sometimes I really need to be ready lots of books. I can get sick of a book and it's just nice to start something else and distract yourself for a bit.

      Good luck!

    2. Oh, and I bet that book you are reading is fascinating. In my medieval civilization history class (one of my favorites!) we studied their medicine. It was so rediculous some of it, but truely interesting. We mostly focused in England, France, Spain, and Italy, though. Not much in the east.

  2. Woowww!
I don't know if I could ever catch up with Ruthie or Casper or Susan.

Well done Aubrie! 9 books a month!

    1. Me either. I might be able to catch up with Corina and Natalie, but I'd probably have to up my goal from 52 books in a year to more like 70 or so.

  3. Wow, Ruthie's a rock star! I haven't been reading as fast as I normally do, but that's okay -- I'll catch up. Maybe. I hope :)

None of the books I read this month were hard to get through, although I definitely liked some better than others. I think the one I liked most was FEAR by Michael Grant. It's the fourth (I think) book in a YA dystopian series and I've enjoyed all of them. If you're into that kind of thing, you should definitely check out this series.

  4. No way I could enter this time around, but it is fascinating. I know, as an avid reader, I'm not alone on this planet.

  5. Ugh! I blame my major move across country for having me fall behind. I'm hoping to play catch up a bit this month.

  6. I like your new header. Great job on the 9 books this month! I think my favorite that I read this month was Secret Daughter. I found it by stalking my Goodreads friends favorites shelves.

  9. Wow - you rock Aubrie.

    1. What book was the biggest pain this month? What out for the reviews coming up - Moa is a fantasy which I cannot finish!

    2. What book do you recommend? The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' books. I read the first two and loved them, but had to interrupt the flow of the trilogy with review reads. I'll review these soon... I'm shocked I got sucked in but hey, I did. :)

    3. Tell me a quick story about how you found one of the books you read this month or how it found you. (Not technically a question, but feel free to leave an answer in the comments or write your own blog post on it!) I read several very contrasting reviews about the Grey series and intrigue pulled me in. There are many flaws but it really sucked me in (not unlike Twilight in fact).

    4. If you didn't read a lot this month or haven't had any of these experiences then just tell me what you read and what you thought of it! (N/A :P ) X

  10. PS: When you get a moment, could you please change the name and possibly the link on your blog list for me ? It's http://shahwharton.com/ and Shah Wharton's WordsinSync. Cheers Aubrie. X

  13. One of the best ways to succeed in network marketing is making sure that the company you're dealing with has a solid reputation. The product may be good, but if the company has a bad reputation, this will eventually get around to people and drastically limit your potential if not kill your business completely.
