Welcome all Followers, new members, editors, and book and movie enthusiasts to Who's Your Editor?! Blogging is new to me, but I find it to be the perfect outlet for writing about special interests and provoking discussion about said interests.
To get started, I really wanted to outline some of the things this blog will be focusing on. I hope to have several reoccurring topics, such as the following:
"Who's Your Editor?"- This is the main feature of WYE?. Each of these posts will focus on a book in which I have noted particular grammatical and stylistic choices the author or editor has made. Using examples from the book as an educational platform, we will become the editors and discuss why such choices may have been made, what "guidelines" of the English language support or contradict such choices, and general self-editing tips.
Style- Posts on style will discuss a style choice of a particular author or just in general. (Be looking for my first style feature "Dashner and his Dashes.")
??? vs ???- Have you ever wondered what's the difference between gray and grey, worse and worst, toward and towards, who and whom, blonde and blond, though and although? That's exactly what these posts will tackle. This is also a great opportunity for everyone to leave comments and suggest other "??? vs ???" that you are having trouble with. (Be looking for the post "Gray vs. Grey")
Book Reviews- Simple. Every time I finish a book I will write a review on it. (Be looking for my review on "'The Last Song' by Nicholas Sparks.")
Must Reads- There are books I have already read that I will never forget and want to pass onto others. (Be looking for "'Poison Study' by Maria V. Snyder.")
My Own Writing- I've been writing for most of my life, even if I didn't always consider it to be a practice. Currently, I am working on two novels, two novellas, and attempting a series of short stories. I also write poetry in all forms. Every now and then I'll share something and post links to my WEbook projects so you can read further if you would like. (Be looking for summaries, excerpts, and poetry soon.)
Miscellaneous- Obviously, I have other interests. So, every now and then I will interject with posts about a movie I watched, something I learned about vintage shoes, other articles I have read, something that is happening at school, etc. They may look out of place at first, but hopefully, as everyone gets to know me, they'll make perfect sense. (Be looking for "The Best Worst Movies," "I Love Joss Whedon," "The History of Sabotage," "How to Graduate from College," and links to interesting articles.)
That's about it. I really hope everyone will enjoy reading this as much as I will enjoy writing it. Also, PLEASE leave comments. I will reply. Feel free to agree, disagree, ask questions, post topic suggestions you'd like to know more about, books you'd like me to read, or work of your own you would like me to check out.
I'm looking forward to kicking this blog off!
This is why you'd be perfect for editing 1029.

(Just so you know, I was so devoted to making this post, that I had to go through the motions to recover my password for my Blogspot account.)
That's awesome. I was glad to see that you had a blog. Plus, I'm really happy that I can help you guys edit for 1029 and have the honor of doing the cover for the second year in a row! I already have a few ideas layed out. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, that blog has only one post and has been inactive since I made it a few years ago, haha.
ReplyDeleteIt might take us a minute to get everything situated, so please be patient with us. Lemme know when you're next in town and I'll give you the lowdown.
Sounds like a plan. Just as long as I am updated, I will be as patient as a rock.
